Start off Fresh in September

September signals a time for a fresh start.

September, marshalls, fall, back to school,

Don’t get me wrong.  I love summer, but September is an opportunity to begin again.

School starts and with it there is an energy to get ‘back to business’ and to realign priorities.

Recently on a shopping trip to Marshalls I found this lovely notebook.  The mantra is simple and it has inspired me to write down all that I want to accomplish this fall.

Needless to say my fall is starting off fabulously.

Pacifica Beauty Arrives at Target

I have been a big fan of Pacifica fragrances for a long time. Indian Coconut Nectar is my favorite scent and so I always carry the little fragrance tin in my purse for quick touch ups.  So recently shopping at Target I became pleasantly surprised to discover the Pacifica line in the beauty section.

The hunt for the perfect Mascara is always on my mind, so I had to purchase Pacifica Stellar Gaze in Black Supernova. It makes my lashes full and long and conditions them, and is Paraben free; all in all a good purchase. I have since noticed online there is a waterproof version of the Mascara called Aquarian Gaze that is available only online which I would like to try so Target if you are listening please put it in your stores.

I couldn’t pass up the Coconut Kiss Creamy Lip Butter.  Free from Paraben’s, Phthalate’s and Petroleum, the scent is divine and the colors are subtle.  Phthalate’s are a family of chemicals that have been used for decades to make plastic more pliable and cosmetics smoother in case you were wondering. I purchased the Light Pink and since the color is subtle I use it when I use little makeup on the weekends or am working around the house.

I also had to add the Indian Coconut Nectar “Take Me There” set to my shopping cart.  Well it is my favorite scent and the kit contains a roll-on perfume, full-sized Color Quench Lip Tint and a mini body butter.  All sizes are TSA friendly so they can go on all of my travels, and there is nothing better than refreshing yourself with a friendly scent after being on a long flight.

There is much more to the Pacifica line including: Mineral BB Cream, an Ultra CC Cream (with SPF 17), Mineral Lip Tints, Eye Shadow and more.

And if you are wondering what is the difference between a BB, CC and DD Cream check out my past post to find out what formula is perfect for your skin.

Top five eyeshadow picks for Hazel eyes

Did you know Hazel eyes are one of the least understood eye colors and are semi-rare?  But never fear, for finding a perfect eyeshadow shade for Hazel eyes can be tricky but many options are available. s1550318-main-heroBecause Hazel eyes often appear to shift in color from brown to green the color is often hard to define, and since the unique color often reflects nearby colors, those of us with Hazel eyes can change the appearance of the color by the choice of makeup that we wear.  Shades to consider include: Browns, Gold, Pinks, Purples and Green, but remember to stay away from any blue shades which do not enhance Hazel eyes in anyway.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow Trio in Gilded Chocolates is a nice set complete with a soft light pink champagne hue, soft gold and a medium copper shade that can go to the office and be used for going out for after work drink.

Makeup Forever Eyeshadow in Matte Dark Purple is a good highlighter and while intense is a nice to have in the makeup bag for those special occasions that call for a special eyeshadow.

The Almay Intense I-Color Eyeshadow Sticks in Seashell Pink offers neutral grown and a soft pink to boost natural eye color and can be worn alone or together.

Boots No7 Stay Perfect™ Smoothing Eye Shadow in Pale Green is a good way to use this bold color.  This liquid formula is non-smudging, while it brightens and defines the eye and is a nice wash of color for running errands or use it with dark green eyeliner for a more dramatic look. mac_eggplantblend001 The new MAC Blend Studio Sculpt Shade & Line in Eggplant contains a plum eyeliner and silver and pink eyeshadows. The eyeshadows can be applied dry for buildable coverage or wet for a saturated color look.

Ballet Chic at Zang Toi for Spring 2014

Zang Toi for Spring 2014 created his own beautiful ‘Ballet Chic’ aesthetic for Spring 2014.

Sitting close to the front row, those of us in attendance got amazed by the elegant start of the show when the American Ballet Theatre’s Principal Dancer Cory Stearns opened the show with a brief but beautiful ballet, setting a theme of classical ballet and fashion.

The Ballet Chic look looks like it will be a big trend for Spring 2014, and is characterized by hues of pale blue, ballet slipper-pink, navy and black.

Characterized by the fluid movement in the clothes, this ballet look is accented by delicate ruffles, the light and airy look is crafted from Silks, Organza and daytime Cashmere.

Runway hair shined with a sophisticated take on the classic ballerina chignon and resulted in a simple elegance. While classic ballet hair is traditionally pulled back, this look contained romantic waves on the side and an oversized low chignon  to create a modern look.  Makeup was simply with glowing skin and a little blush on the cheek.

Zang Toi - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014

Black matte leggins are a definite must and should be in every girls closet along with a pair of suede booties or over the knee boots for spring and also for fall 2013.  So while in New York City to cover the shows at New York Fashion Week I stocked up on my own personal ‘must have list’ for fall and picked up my own pair of over the knee boots by Stuart Weitzman.

zang_toi_trio_0813_450Trending big all over the tents for spring is nail lacquer as necessary accessory, and as Zang Toi is following in the steps of many design houses like Ruffian and Marc Jacobs who launched their own lines.  Models wore the dark noir “Black Swan” nail color on the runway; which is part of a limited edition trio of polishes from Zoya and  includes Ballet Babe – a flowing pink, Boy Toi – a delicate blue cream and Black Swan a deep black.

What is your ‘must have item’ for spring that you can also wear for fall 2013?
