Zadig & Voltaire’s grand opening brings Paris to Washington, DC

Zadig and Voltaire’s arrival to Washington, DC was kicked off with a grand opening celebration.

20150603_190958The famous French clothing line, known for a rock and roll sensibility did not fail to disappoint with a loft inspired store housing many beautiful and witty garments.

The minimal decor was the perfect way to showcase the edgy clothes on display.

The fragrance was arranged in a library fashion. I received a sample of the scent for women which has notes of Orange Blossom, Peony, Jasmine Tea, Tonka Bean, and White Musk and plan on wearing it on my next night out.

My favorite contrasting pieces were the snakeskin jacket and the Coco T-Shirt with Hot Pink accent.

Zadig and Voltaire is located in Palmer Alley in Center City.

Charlotte Ronson “Morning After Beauty” fall 2015

Charlotte Ronson designs for the ‘it’ girls and for fall 2015 she delivers with a fresh “Morning After Beauty” look with a collection that is flirty, delicate and filled with light military touches.

The show was set in a mysterious modern, urban garden surrounded by oversize flowers and granite prints in shades of deep Blue, Steel Grey and deep Magenta. Feminine materials dominated many looks with sheer tops paired with boxy knit sweaters or fitted trousers.  Refined and edgy, the line was dominated with softer lines fueled by late 60’s sportswear.

The beauty look or shall I say the “Morning After Beauty” look is so natural, so simple, it appears one is not wearing any makeup at all, and that is simply becoming the huge trend for fall.

Charlotte Ronson6

To get this look the big beauty takeaways from the show are the imperfectly smudged eye, perfect brow and natural skin all created by Mehron Makeup.

Eyes –  E.Y.E Powder in Espresso and Coco

Eye Liner – E.Y.E linen Pencil in Dark Brown created the imperfect eyes

LIps – Cherrywood L.I.P Cream

Here are some of my favorite looks from the show.

Charlotte Ronoson

I love the shape of this dress paired with the blue tights. Ladylike and edgy.

Charlotte Ronson2

Perfectly sized knits paired with feminine lace details.

Charlotte Ronson3

Large floral prints will be making waves this fall.

TSA-Approved Beauty Vending Machines

It is possible to get beautiful ‘on the go’ with innovative TSA-Approved beauty vending machines that can be found in airports around the world.

I recently encountered the Benefit beauty vending machine on a recent trip to New York City and was thoroughly impressed with the selection and the ease of convenience.

The Benefit Glam Up and Away Kiosk offers travel size TSA-friendly products so any lipstick, foundation or Mascara purchased can easily go onto the plane and passes all TSA size requirements.

As I like to feature the latest developments in the world of beauty, technology and commerce, such as the Kate Spade Interactive Store in NYC, the Benefit beauty kiosk is a truly innovative way to combine a fun, functional and interactive shopping experience while also maintaining a retro-like boutique experience.

While still a vending machine, this kiosk offers instructional beauty tips and tricks on a computer screen to create a comprehensive and informative shopping trip that is positive and helpful.

Naturally Nouveau by Stila is face of beauty for Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2015

New York Fashion Week for Spring 2015 has kicked off in style with the Rebecca Minkoff show and the Natural Look is proving to be a big look for spring as seen on the runway by Stila.

To recreate the look from the show you need:

Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Mind

All Over Shimmer Powder in Kitten,

Mile High Lashes Mascara

Color Balm Lipstick in Vivienne

As the shows evolve we will continue to report on the beauty trends; personally I think this is going to be a huge trend that we will see again.  Actually I want to wear the Color Balm Lipstick now in fall since the formula nourishes lips and is a great way to combat the cold air and dryness.
Well I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Charles James: Beyond Fashion Exhibit

The Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit is a stunning new exhibit in honor of the famous couturier held at the newly renovated Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The focus of the exhibit are gowns, and the designer’s creative process. Recently, the Met held the infamous Met Gala Red Carpet where the stars came out in full force to celebrate the kick off of the exhibit which resides partly in the new Anna Wintour Costume Center.

So if beautiful, whimsical gowns make your heart flutter you will love this show, and it’s also the first to be split between two locations within the museum. The first half is inside the Costume Center; the second half is within the special exhibition galleries on the first floor.

All of the clothing are broken down into four categories: Spirals & Wraps; Drapes & Folds; Platonic Form; and Anatomical Cut.

Charles James is known as “America’s First Couturier” and the exhibit shows the techniques and details surrounding the creation of each dress. The exhibit shows the viewer this technique as a  small spotlight moves around each dress on display, giving information on that exact part displayed on the screen giving the visitor the opportunity to figure out what’s inside of the dreamy creation.

There’s also a scrapbook on display with photos from Bill Cunningham who was friends with the designer.

The exhibit runs from Thursday, May 8th and through August 10th and will be another blockbuster show that I look forward to seeing.

Romantic and delicate makeup reign on the Met Gala red carpet

The Met Gala once again proved to be the premiere event for the worlds of fashion, beauty and style; and this year romantic and delicate makeup reigned for the Met Gala Red Carpet.

Nicole Richie easily flaunted this trend with violet hued hair and a Donna Karan Atelier gown. Ironically, Lupita Nyong’o also rocked the Violet hued hair trend with a unique headband that I am sure will be a hot accessory this summer.

Nicole’s beauty look was created using NYX Cosmetics and here is the cheat sheet to create your own look.

Skin:  Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in “Sunbeam” helped give Nicole’s skin a shimmery glow to shine on the red carpet.

Eyes: To compliment the sea foam green dress and lavender locks, The Natural Shadow Palette was applied to eyelids. Next one coat of Lush Lashes Mascara and one coat of Fabulous Lashes in “Nirvana” were applied to add more volume to Richie’s eyes.

Lips: Because Matte Lipstick is key to balance a shimmery evening look, “Spirit,” lipstick in a nude pink shade, that complemented her natural yet radiant makeup look, was applied to lips with a lipstick brush.

Nude lips were also seen on Kim Kardashian and Lea Michele and at the direct opposite of the spectrum were romantic, red lips as seen on Taylor Swift and Emily Rossum.

And while we are discussing the Met, lets not forget the first gorgeous exhibit held at the new Anna Wintour Costume Center called Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit which I will be visiting and reporting about this summer.

Get your own pair of Google Glass for one day only

Are you always on the forefront of style, fashion and technology?  If so your lucky day will arrive on Tuesday, April 15 when Google will make sales of Google Glass available to everyone in the United States for $1,500.00.

This special sale is the first time the tech device is available to the general public; previously only Google “Explorers” or “early adopters” or developers could make a purchase.

The sale starts at 9 a.m. ET on April 15 and any individual making a first time purchase will receive a free frames or sunglasses but supply is limited.

Google Glass has been making news headlines most recently with a partnership with Luxottica, an Italian Brand best known for Ray-Ban and Oakley brands and licensing agreements with the likes of Prada, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Coach to market the Glass collection in 2015 and to offer prescription glasses.

Controversy has also surrounded Google Glass as it carries an Orwellian small camera that can record 720p video or snap still photos with no indicator light showing when the camera is on; therefore pictures or short films can be taken almost secretly and so Google Glass has been banned from many bars and restaurants. It has also taken the fashion world by storm walking the runway at Diane Von Furstenberg with Sergey Brin at New York Fashion Week.

Will you make a Google Glass purchase?
