Violet Lips at the Oscars and New York Fashion Week

Violet lips have been popping up everywhere from the red carpet at the Oscars in Hollywood to the runways of New York Fashion Week for Fall 2015.

At the Oscars, Violet Lips on Naomi Watts paired perfectly with her black Armani couture dress at the 87th Academy Awards.

Naomi

Naomi’s beauty look was created to be soft but have a bit of edge. L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Color in Violet Parfait was applied and is a shade likened to a bruised plum.

At Nanette Leopore, the look for fall 2015 was a posh rebel school girl.

Nanette Lepore

The collection contained fun prints and pretty jewel tones, and the violet lips created with Color Sensational Rebel Bloom in Orchid Ectasy by Maybelline complimented the collection in a bold and sexy way.

So you heard it hear first, Violet is the trend in Hollywood, and New York and maybe your hometown.

NYFW 2015-Star Wars Gold Eyes and Braids at Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman’s “Star Wars” runway show opened with the theme song from the iconic movie to unveil a collection and beauty look suitable for a modern Princess Leia with Gold eye shadow and intricate braided hair.

MaraHoffman4

Known as a bohemian designer, the fall beauty looks are appropriate for the desert dwellers of Tattoine and any well traveled girl.  It is her study of “civilization and wilderness” that revealed a natural themed beauty created with Maybelline products.

MaraHoffman7

The Earth toned tribal prints, stunning blues and shiny metallic gold patterns combined with flowy cuts made for stunningly sharp and comfortable clothes.

MaraHoffman3

To get this out of this world look skin was prepped with Fit Me! Dewey + Smooth Foundation and Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.  Master Kajal in Charcoal Skies was blended all over the eyelids, layering Color Tattoo creme and powder shadows  in Bold Gold and Bad to the Bronze to make eyes pop with a reflective and metallic glow. Lips stayed simple with Baby Lip Balm in Quenched.

The striking eyes made a perfect accessory to the powerful clothes in all-White.

Sand Dunes and Grey Suede knee-high boots made an adventurous combination.

Grey Nails at Prabal Gurung for #NYFW fall 2015

Grey nails debuted on the runway at the Prabal Gurung fall 2015 New York Fashion Week show to my delight.

Grey Nailpolish

The sporty, fall collection is inspired by a trip to the Adirondacks and so the beauty reflected a very healthy look.

Honestly, Grey seems an odd choice in nail color at first, but the color is very fresh and interesting and while different isn’t so intense as some of the black and dark blue shades that have been popular in recent seasons. Gurung designed this particular shade of Grey used in the runway show for Sally Hanson.  Unfortunately, I don’t know when it is going to be released so I will be checking out my local drugstore to see when it is available and will share the news with you when I find out an answer.

Rich Girl Hair at Jason Wu for Fall 2015

A big trend that I adore is the new “Rich Girl Hair” look seen at Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung for the Fall 2015 shows in New York City.

heather neisworth

Actually Kathleen Hou from the Cut dubbed the hair with this phrase, but no matter what you want to call it the hair is long, and straight with a slight wave. Unlike the popular “Beach Wave” this hair looks more natural and sophisticated with the wave in the middle portion of the hair.

JasonWu

The trick to create the wave is to only put the hot curling iron on the hair for a second: but of course hair never looks as good as when it is professionally blown out.  In fact, I love this look so much I cannot wait for fall and plan on wearing this look now – unfortunately if I see you on the street it will be hard to see my hair under my winter hat.

Charlotte Ronson “Morning After Beauty” fall 2015

Charlotte Ronson designs for the ‘it’ girls and for fall 2015 she delivers with a fresh “Morning After Beauty” look with a collection that is flirty, delicate and filled with light military touches.

The show was set in a mysterious modern, urban garden surrounded by oversize flowers and granite prints in shades of deep Blue, Steel Grey and deep Magenta. Feminine materials dominated many looks with sheer tops paired with boxy knit sweaters or fitted trousers.  Refined and edgy, the line was dominated with softer lines fueled by late 60’s sportswear.

The beauty look or shall I say the “Morning After Beauty” look is so natural, so simple, it appears one is not wearing any makeup at all, and that is simply becoming the huge trend for fall.

Charlotte Ronson6

To get this look the big beauty takeaways from the show are the imperfectly smudged eye, perfect brow and natural skin all created by Mehron Makeup.

Eyes –  E.Y.E Powder in Espresso and Coco

Eye Liner – E.Y.E linen Pencil in Dark Brown created the imperfect eyes

LIps – Cherrywood L.I.P Cream

Here are some of my favorite looks from the show.

Charlotte Ronoson

I love the shape of this dress paired with the blue tights. Ladylike and edgy.

Charlotte Ronson2

Perfectly sized knits paired with feminine lace details.

Large floral prints will be making waves this fall.

Naturally Nouveau by Stila is face of beauty for Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2015

New York Fashion Week for Spring 2015 has kicked off in style with the Rebecca Minkoff show and the Natural Look is proving to be a big look for spring as seen on the runway by Stila.

To recreate the look from the show you need:

Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Mind

All Over Shimmer Powder in Kitten,

Mile High Lashes Mascara

Color Balm Lipstick in Vivienne

As the shows evolve we will continue to report on the beauty trends; personally I think this is going to be a huge trend that we will see again.  Actually I want to wear the Color Balm Lipstick now in fall since the formula nourishes lips and is a great way to combat the cold air and dryness.
Well I hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Spring 2014 Beauty Trends

Casual Buns and Low Ponytails

Rejoice the low Ponytail is back in all forms: messy, sleek, wavy and everything in between.  Seen at the Zang Toi, Honor and Jason Wu shows this timeless classic is now ready to gain the respect it deserves and women everywhere can rejoice at the simplicity of the look.

Orange Lips

Orange is the next big color and it showed up on the runways on lips in electric hues as spotted at Rag and Bone, DKNY and at Dennis Basso.

No Makeup

Many designers went so beauty basic the makeup wasn’t there.  To achieve this look you just need some moisturizer and concealer, a dab of blush and a touch of liner. I usually think of this look as the weekend brunch look and I don’t feel it is appropriate for the office but designers like Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler make a good point to return to basic beauty.

Metallic Eyes

Glitter and shimmer is all the rage for Spring 2014.  Once reserved for the tween-set, metallics are all grown up and can be used as a primary shade on the eyes or as an accent for those less bold. Charlotte Ronson, Carmen Marc Volvo and Jenny Packham

White Nails

Simple white nails are the hottest thing for Spring; and it doesn’t matter if they are matte, shiny, or glossy.  Just think White and your nails will be on trend or ready for nail art designs that are becoming the rage at Kate Spade and Nanette Lepore.

Brown Lips

Brown is back and stronger than ever as seen at Derek Lam and Chris Benz. While the look is reminiscent of a Grunge look this lighter shade is more now and really appropriate for this fall season.

Moon Manicures

The Moon Manicure continues into spring as a major accessory. Now evolving into multiple shades and colors from humble origins on the Ruffian Runway, and Lela Rose shows.

I plan on wearing the Ruffian Moon Manicure now for fall. What trend will you be ready to wear for Spring?  Or is there a trend that you will be wearing now?
