Leather and lace are two big trends for Fall 2013, and by the looks of the Spring shows Leather is evolving into a soft and sophisticated option.

The red Leather skirt is my absolute favorite look from the Blumarine show.

Now Blumarine showed some delicate and angelic white dresses, which stood out in contrast to the red leather skirt which is a bold choice for Spring.

Will you decide to be rocking red leather this spring?

Barneys, Lichtenstein and New York

I am always moved by the charm of New York City.

Recently when I visited the city, Roy Lichtenstein’s designs were decorating the windows in Barneys to celebrate a collaboration with the artist.

Many of the artists most famous and beloved images such as the Laughing Cat, the Kiss and Ice Cream Soda are being used.

I am partial to the Laughing Cat pillow which would make a wonderful addition to my home office which is currently a work in progress.

No-Tech Weekend

No-Tech Weekend
Sometime you just need a technology break so as the weather promises to be beautiful I have decided to move at a slower pace this weekend.
Some things on my list this weekend is to read The Great Gatsby before the Baz Luhrmann film comes out which embraces the inner English Lit major in me, listen to the entire Justin Timberlake album and enjoy a green break at the National Arboretum for the Bonsai Festival.
My goal is to stay away from technology this weekend and give my mind a break to enjoy the finer things.

I recently attending a special event to meet Matthew Singer the newly appointed Neiman Marcus Men’s Fashion Director.

Matthew was in town for a special “Spring Trend” show for men.  After the runway show I had a special opportunity to meet him and conduct a short interview to find out about the hottest new styles for men.

Q: What is the one trend that you would recommend men to embrace for Spring 2013?

A: Prints are everywhere for spring and because there are so many designs I would tell any man to include at least one print into their spring wardrobe.

Q: As suits continue to be an important fashion staple, what kind of suit do you recommend a man to own?

A: Suits in a blend of Silk and Linen are right on trend and a suite in a cream or khaki shade is fresh and new.

Q: What is some fashion advice that you would give to a man who needs to update his wardrobe?

A: Be bold and don’t be afraid to embrace color.  Purchasing a shirt, shoes, or sweater in an unexpected color can easily freshen your look and be worn with most clothes already in your wardrobe.

Here are some of the runway shots:

Hello Web

The Current State of Technology

*Photography by Andrés Izquierdo

Technology is evolving at such a rapid pace it’s hard to imagine how to determine just what will be ‘the hot technology’ in five years.

And as mobile continues to be popular, trends indicate the number of mobile-connected devices will exceed the number of people on earth by the end of 2012.

So what will happen?

Can mobile overtake laptops and be the primary way to access the Internet?

Will apps become extinct as online content becomes configured for the iPad experience?

Does the localized niche experience continue to grow in popularity while the promise of broad Internet search results continues?

As a Mobile Strategist at the U.S. Department of State I work every day to understand and interpret the technology and communication trends that impact our lives and I will be musing about this fascinating topic.

I will also talk about an array of culture, fashion and beauty trends to show how the worlds of technology and culture bump into each other to create something new right before our eyes.
